Lisa LeMay

MS, LMFT

I have a warm, gentle demeanor and genuinely care about my clients. During our sessions I foster an atmosphere of collaboration, acceptance, and respect.

I draw from the best science has to offer about the workings of our minds and bodies and from ancient wisdom of how to create and live a fulfilling life.

I’m a “deep thinker,” able to engage in existential or theological questions, hold the tension of paradoxes, and use metaphors to illuminate.

I am committed to using a lens of cultural humility and will explore the complexities of race, gender, power, and privilege as they come up in our work together.

As an Organization

Inclusion

Everyone is welcome at Sagewood. All humans are endowed with deep value and worth in their very being, and all are bearers of the Imago Dei, the image of God. At Sagewood you will find acceptance and understanding, no matter what you’ve gone through, what you’ve done, or how you identify yourself. Your culture, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability and disability, social class, body shape, religion, and beliefs will all be respected.

Equity

I acknowledge that we live in a world where many are misunderstood and oppressed by systemic racism, queerphobia, patriarchy, colonialism, ableism, and body shaming. I strive to be a culturally humble and anti-racist, an LGBTQIA+ ally, and a proponent of Health at Every Size.

I also recognize that the land on which the Sagewood Counseling office sits was unfairly taken from the Dakota people, and I offer gratitude for their past and present stewardship of the land in this region.

Accessibility

I desire that anyone who would like to receive therapy through Sagewood would be able to do so. If Sagewood’s standard fee would make counseling unaffordable for you, a sliding fee scale based on income is available.

I also participate in the Open Path Collective, which offers low-cost counseling. https://openpathcollective.org/

Reciprocity and Solidarity

Sagewood desires to be an entity that receives with gratitude and shares generously with others, working for solidarity across our differences. Sagewood financially supports the following organizations:

Financial assistance for Black women and girls seeking therapy through the Loveland Foundation Therapy Fund https://thelovelandfoundation.org/home/

Education, outreach, and support for families with children with mood disorders through the Children’s Mental Health Resource Center. I also volunteer with CMHRC https://cmhrc.org/

Education about racism and anti-racist practices through Anti-Racism Daily https://the-ard.com/

Building a transition away from extractive systems of production and consumption and towards regenerative and equitable economies through Climate Justice Alliance https://climatejusticealliance.org/
